Edge connector
At one end of the board, the M-keyed contacts mate with the motherboard socket. Four PCIe lanes carry commands and data.
Mounting point
Rotate to the far end. The semicircular cutout sits against a standoff or latch. The 2280 format describes a board roughly 22 mm wide and 80 mm long.
Controller and flash
The controller maps logical addresses to NAND flash and manages wear. This 1 TB model includes 1 GB of LPDDR4 working memory. Data persists in NAND after power is removed.
