Contact base
Look underneath the cooler for the flat surface that meets the processor through thermal paste.
Heatpipes
Follow the curved tubes from the base into both fin stacks. Working fluid inside evaporates at the hot end and condenses where the fins remove heat.
Fin stacks
Rotate to see the narrow gaps between the plates. The fans push air through these gaps, carrying heat away from the metal.
